Days 1-2 : Fly to Shanghai

Fly overnight to the cosmopolitan city of Shanghai.

Day 3 : Discover Shanghai

Visit the renowned Shanghai Museum and the area around People’s Square. We also explore the restored Xintiandi area with its unique 1920’s style Shikumen buildings. In the evening, sample traditional Shanghai cuisine.

Day 4 : Yu Gardens & the Bund

Stroll through the beautiful Yu Gardens and the Old Town and walk along the famous Bund with its colonial architecture. Take the opportunity to shop on bustling Nanjing Road and in the evening, cruise on the panoramic Huangpu River.

Day 5 : Historic Suzhou

Travel to the charming city of Suzhou, also known as the Venice of the East. Visit two of the finest oriental gardens: the Humble Administrator’s Garden and the Master of the Nets Garden, and a local silk mill still in operation.

Day 6 : Grand Canal & Wuzhen

Cruise on the thousand year old Grand Canal and then escape to the traditional canal town of Wuzhen. Take time to explore before continuing to the old imperial capital, Hangzhou.

Days 7-8 : Imperial Hangzhou

Visit the Temple of Inspired Seclusion, Six Harmonies Pagoda and take a relaxing cruise on West Lake. The next day visit the tea farms outside Hangzhou and experience an oriental tea-tasting. Fly to beautiful Guilin in the afternoon.

Days 9-10 : Li River Cruise & Yangshuo

Cruise the stunning Li River to Yangshuo and enjoy the landscape of limestone hills, fishing scenes and picturesque villages. The following morning discover the beautiful rural countryside around Yangshuo. The afternoon is at leisure and there are many activities available (arranged locally at extra cost) including cycling, rafting and walking or you may choose to relax in the town. In the evening see the cormorant fishermen.

Days 11-12 : Stone forest

Drive back to Guilin and visit the colourful stalagmites and stalactites of Reed Flute Caves. Fly to Kunming, also known as the City of Eternal Spring and sample the famous Across the Bridge Noodles. The next day, explore the surreal limestone images and columns of the UNESCO listed Stone Forest.

Day 13 : Fly to Chongqing

Visit the Western Hills and Dianchi Lake before flying to Chongqing next to the Yangtze River, and visiting Erlin Park.

Day 14 : Dazu Rock Carvings

Explore the ancient living town of Ciqikou and travel to the small town of Dazu to see the most fascinating rock carvings in the world – the UNESCO World Heritage listed Beishan Frescoes.

Day 15 : Journey to Chengdu

Explore the ancient living town of Ciqikou and travel to the small town of Dazu to see the most fascinating rock carvings in the world – the UNESCO World Heritage listed Beishan Frescoes.

Day 16 : Grand Buddha of Leshan

Travel to Leshan to visit the Grand Buddha, the world’s largest stone-carved Buddhist statue. We take a short boat trip to view the statue from the river. Return to Chengdu, visiting the old town of Huanglongxi en-route. Sample a delicious Sichuan meal in the evening.

Day 17 : Pandas & Train to Xian

Visit the famous Panda Conservation Centre before boarding the overnight train to Xian.

Days 18-19 : Terracotta Warriors, Xian

Arrive in Xian and visit the Little Wild Goose Pagoda. In the evening, enjoy a traditional Shui Jiao dumpling meal followed by a performance of Tang Dynasty dancing. The next day, visit one of the most important archaeological discoveries of the 20th century – the Terracotta Warriors, and walk along the Ancient City Wall.

Day 20 : Xian, train to Beijing

Visit the renowned Shaanxi Museum and stroll through the lively Muslim Quarter before boarding the overnight train to Beijing, China’s capital city.

Days 21-22 : Great Wall of China

Arrive in Beijing and sightseeing today includes a stroll through Tiananmen Square, past Chairman Mao’s Mausoleum to the treasure-filled Forbidden City. The next day, walk on the Great Wall and visit the unique Temple of Heaven.

Days 23-24 : Summer Palace

Tour the exquisite Summer Palace and see a fascinating Chinese Acrobat show in the evening. The next day, visit Lama Temple and indulge in some shopping at the bustling markets. Our evening meal includes the local delicacy, Peking Duck.

Day 25 : Fly Beijing to uK

Fly to the UK, arriving home the same or following day.

    The Emirate of Sharjah is regarded as the cultural centre of the Middle East. Visit the Natural History Museum, the corniche with the golden Al Majara Souk, Al Naboodah House, the Al Arsa Souk and the Central Souk, famous for its carpets and curios. Later, return to Dubai. (B)

    Day 4: Visit Abu Dhabi
    Capital of the UAE, Abu Dhabi is a cosmopolitan metropolis rising out of the sand. Visit the beautiful corniche, Dhow building yards, stunning palaces and the Petroleum Museum for an insight into the industry that has transformed the UAE. Later, return to Dubai. (B)

    Transfer from Sanya Airport to the five-star Huayu Resort & Spa at Yalong Bay. Hainan Island is located off the southern coast of China and lying at a similar latitude to Hawaii. The island enjoys a year-round tropical climate with an average temperature of between 22-26 ºC.(B)

    Days 2-5: Sanya
    Spend the next four days at leisure to enjoy the hotel facilities, stroll along the beautiful beach or further explore Hainan Island. Visit the Tropical Wildlife Park which is home to the 'Macaque' monkey, experience the many watersports on offer such as snorkelling, water-skiing and parasailing or play a round of golf.
