For many visitors, the ancient desert state of Rajasthan represents quintessential India. Dramatic forts, majestic palaces, ornate havellis, bejewelled Maharaja’s and the dazzling dress of the local rajputs. On this tour you will discover the white marble of the Taj Mahal, the delights of Jaipur, Jodphur's Meherangarh Fort and the sunset of Udaipur. You will also uncover the hidden gems in rural Rajasthan as you journey into the Thar Desert which is steeped with history as well as experience a jeep safari, camel ride and stay in a luxury tented camp.

Days 1-2 : UK – Delhi

Fly overnight to Delhi, India’s capital city.

Day 3 : Delhi – Agra

Travel to Agra, visiting Sikandra en-route to see the marble tomb of Akbar which is an important Mughal architectural masterpiece built in 1605. (B,L)

Day 4 : Agra

Rise early to view the impressive Taj Mahal in all its glory at sunrise. Also visit the Agra Fort, a UNESCO world heritage listed site. (B,L)

Day 5 : Agra – Jaipur

Travel to Jaipur, stopping at the ‘ghost city’ of Fatehpur Sikri built in 1569 by Emperor Akbar en-route. (B,L)

Day 6 : Jaipur

Begin with a photo stop at Hawa Mahal (Palace of the Winds) before continuing to Amer Fort. Also visit City Palace and Jantar Mantar Observatory and enjoy some shopping at the local bazaar in Choti Choper. (B,L)

Day 7 : Jaipur – Bijaynagar

Travel to Bijaynagar and visit Kishangarh For (B,L).

Day 8 : Bijaynagar – Khimsar

Continue to Khimsar. (B,L)

Day 9 : Khimsar – Manvar

Drive through the Thar Desert to Manvar and experience a camel and jeep safari to local Bishnoi villages to meet the locals. Tonight you will have a memorable stay in a tented camp (operational from mid-October to mid-April) and enjoy the evening entertainment. (Manvar Resort is used if the camp is unavailable). (B,L,D)

Day 10 : Manvar – Jodhpur

Ttravel to Jodhpur, the second largest city in Rajasthan. (B)

Day 11 : Jodhpur

Visit Meherangarh Fort the museum located in the Umaid Bhawan Palace. (B)

Day 12 : Jodhpur – Deogarh

Continue to Deogarh, visiting Kumbhalgarh Fort en-route. (B,L)

Day 13 : Deogarh – Udaipur

Stop at Ranakpur to visit the largest Jain Temple complex in India, built in the 15th century. Later, travel to Udaipur, a city of lakes, palaces and temples and ejoy a relaxing cruise on Lake Pichola.

Day 14 : Udaipur

Begin with a drive around Fateh Sagar Lake and then visit the Folk Museum, Mewar Art Gallery and Sahelion Ki Bari (Garden for the Maids of Honour). Also visit City Palace and wander through the local shops.

Day 15 : Udaipur – UK

Fly to the UK (via Mumbai or Delhi), arriving home later the same day. (B)
