Soak up the atmosphere of the Mekong Delta
3 days from £340
Explore the South of Vietnam where the Mekong River finally meets the South China Sea. The area is as interesting and diverse as Vietnam has to offer. View the floating markets and villages, and watch the life of those living here float by as you cruise past.
Day 1 : Saigon – Chau Doc
Transfer from your hotel in Saigon and drive to Chau Doc (approx 6hrs drive), located deep in the Mekong Delta near the Vietnamese border to Cambodia, stopping for lunch en-route. In the afternoon, visit Sam Mountain and Lady Xu Temple to view the sunset. (L)
Day 2 : Chau Doc – Can Tho (overnight)
In the morning, enjoy a cruise on the Mekong River to explore the delta, also known as the ‘Rice Basket’ of Vietnam. Visit floating markets, villages, home industries and plantations as well as Thoi Son Island and Vinh Trang Pagoda. The Mekong Delta is primarily rural; however, it is the most densely populated area in Vietnam. Life revolves around the river as people live, trade and travel along the river. The area’s rich and fertile lands are perfect for growing rice, coconuts, vegetables and tropical fruits. The Mekong Delta gives a perfect glimpse into how life once was. Later, travel by road to Can Tho City for an overnight stay, stopping for lunch en-route. (B,L)
Day 3 : Can Tho – Saigon
In the morning enjoy a boat trip to the Chang Rai floating markets. Later, transfer by road to Saigon. (B)
