Days 1-2 : UK – Hanoi

Fly overnight to Hanoi via Hong Kong and transfer to the hotel before our welcome dinner of local cuisine.

Day 3 : Hanoi

Hanoi, also known as the ‘Paris of the Orient’ is a charming and richly historic city with lakes, parks and shaded boulevards. Sightseeing today includes visits to Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum (closed Sep-Dec), Stilt House and Museum, One Pillar Pagoda and the Temple of Literature. We also enjoy a walking tour of the Old Quarter and a drive around Hoan Kiem Lake. This evening we enjoy a performance of the famous Water Puppets.

Day 4 : Halong Bay Junk Cruise – Hanoi

Drive to Halong Bay, the ‘Jewel in the Crown’ of Vietnam and commence cruising onboard the traditionally designed junk boat. Relax and enjoy a seafood meal onboard whilst cruising between the nearby islands. Return to Hanoi in the afternoon, driving through the striking rural countryside of the Red River Delta.

Days 5-6 : Hanoi – Hoi An

Fly to Danang and transfer to the UNESCO listed town of Hoi An stopping at the Cham Museum, Marble Mountains and China Beach en-route. Our walking tour the next day takes us through the narrow streets of the historic centre of Hoi An where we visit one of the oldest homes, which is still occupied by the descendants of the merchants that built it over 200 years ago. Also visit the Japanese Bridge, Hoi An market and a local Chinese Pagoda. The afternoon is at leisure to further explore this relaxing town as you wish.

Day 7 : Hoi An – Saigon

Fly to Saigon, Vietnam’s largest and busiest city. Sightseeing today includes a visit to the former Presidential Palace, the War Remnants Museum, the imposing Notre Dame Cathedral and the French-style Post Office. We also visit Cholon (the Chinatown of Saigon), the beautiful Thien Hau Pagoda and Ben Thanh Market for some shopping. The rest of the day is at leisure to further explore the city as you wish.

Day 8 : Cu Chi Tunnels & Tay Ninh day tour

Visit the famous tunnel system at Cu Chi and then attend the noon service at the Cao Dai Temple, which is one of the most striking structures in Asia.

Day 9 : Mekong Delta day tour

Travel by coach to My Tho and enjoy a cruise on the Mekong River to explore the delta, also known as the ‘Rice Basket’ of Vietnam as it is covered with rice paddies and fruit plantations. Visit floating markets, villages, home industries and plantations before returning to Saigon. Transfer to Saigon Airport and fly overnight to the UK via Hong Kong.

Day 10 : UK

Arrive home filled with many happy memories.

Cat Ba Island - 4D/3N

Cat Ba Island

    Day 1: Hanoi – Cat Ba Island
    Transfer from your hotel in Hanoi and drive to the port of Hai Phong (approx 2 hours). Catch the hydrofoil to Cat Ba Island (approx 45 minutes) and transfer to the Cat Ba Sunrise Resort. This wellappointed hotel is widely regarded as the best on the island. Facilities at the hotel include a restaurant serving International and Asian cuisine, the Fisherman’s Grill garden restaurant, swimming pool, sauna and massage rooms. All of the beautifully furnished rooms face the beach and feature air-conditioning, satellite TV, telephone and tea/coffee making facilities.

    Day 2: Cat Ba Island
    Drive to Trung Trang Cave, which is 10-30 metres below sea level. Situated in the largest valley on the island, the cave was formed by thousands of years of natural erosion of the limestone rock. Then visit Cat Ba National Park to enjoy a walk in the natural surroundings. A packed lunch is provided. Return to the town to explore the local market before ending the day on Cat Co Beach. (B,L)

    Day 3: Cat Ba Island
    Spend the day at leisure to enjoy the hotel facilities, stroll along the beautiful beach or further explore the island. (B)

    Day 4: Cat Ba Island – Hanoi
    Transfer to the dock to take the hydrofoil to Hai Phong. Continue by road to your hotel in Hanoi or Hanoi Airport for your onward flight. (B)

    Day 3: Macau
    Transfer to the port for a hydrofoil ride across the Pearl River Estuary to Macau. Visit the sights of this former Portuguese colony including the ruins of the St. Paul Church, Ama Temple and Macau Museum (closed Mondays). There will also be the opportunity to visit one of the local casinos for which Macau is famous (minimum age 18). Return by hydrofoil to Hong Kong. (B,L)
