Travelling from the bustling capital of Tokyo to Hakodate on the northern island of Hokkaid\u014d, the new\u00a0Hokkaid\u014d Shinkansen\u00a0will take 4 hours and for the first time allow tourists on <a href=\"\/japan\/tours\/\">Japan tours<\/a> and locals to travel by bullet train from the mainline to the country&#8217;s northernmost island, famous for its Ice\u00a0Festival, excellent winter sports and exceptional seafood.
