{"id":482,"date":"2015-02-13T10:47:14","date_gmt":"2015-02-13T10:47:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.wendywutours.co.uk\/blog\/?p=482"},"modified":"2016-03-10T09:57:35","modified_gmt":"2016-03-10T09:57:35","slug":"chinas-kazakh-eagle-hunters-captured-film","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.wendywutours.co.uk\/blog\/china\/chinas-kazakh-eagle-hunters-captured-film\/","title":{"rendered":"China\u2019s Kazakh Eagle Hunters Captured on Film"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>American online news aggregator The Huffington Post has published pictures of one of China\u2019s most historic cultural arts. <!--more-->Images captured by Getty Images photographer Kevin Frayer depict the ancient art of Kazakh eagle hunting during an eagle-hunting festival that took place last month.<\/p>\n<p>The festival was organised by a local hunting community based in China\u2019s Xinjiang province in the north west of the country in Qinghe County, where eagle hunters compete in the festival in an attempt to promote the community\u2019s traditional hunting practices.<\/p>\n<h2>Keeping tradition alive in China<\/h2>\n<p>The festival, documented by Frayer\u2019s images, depicts an attempt to keep one of China\u2019s most intriguing customs alive. While visitors to the country on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wendywutours.co.uk\/china\/?utm_source=blog&amp;utm_medium=post&amp;utm_campaign=kazakh%20eagle\">cultural China holidays<\/a> can still see and experience many of China\u2019s celebrated customs, such as the Spring Festival and Naadam Festival, this hunting practice traditionally undertaken in China, Kazakhstan, Russia and Mongolia is at risk of dying out, so China\u2019s ethnic Kazakh minority is attempting to revive it.<\/p>\n<p>The art of eagle hunting consists of hunters on horseback using eagles who have been trained and handled in line with a strict set of ancient rules, which the community are attempting to preserve for future generations of hunters.<\/p>\n<p>The photographs by Frayer, as seen <a href=\"http:\/\/www.huffingtonpost.com\/2015\/02\/10\/china-eagle-hunters-photos_n_6652364.html?ncid=tweetlnkushpmg00000067\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a>, depict this art beautifully along with illustrating the majestic nature of this traditional community based in the mountains of China. The festival, which was held in late January earlier this year, is an attempt to preserve such practices, where it is hoped future generations will take to the hunt. The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/news\/magazine-26969150\" target=\"_blank\">BBC reported<\/a> in April last year of a 13-year-old girl hunting with eagles who appeared to have mastered the practice of her ancestors, stating \u201cYou don&#8217;t really control the eagle.
