A leisurely, luxurious cruise along the mighty Yangtze River with the five-star specialist, Victoria Cruises. Explore the former imperial capital of Nanjing and beautiful Mt Huang before sailing through the dramatic Three Gorges. There is also plenty of time to relax and admire the spectacular scenery from your own private balcony.

Days 1-2 : Fly to Shanghai

Fly overnight to the cosmopolitan city of Shanghai, also known as the ‘Paris of the East’.

Day 3 : Discover Shanghai

Sightseeing today includes a stroll through the beautiful Yu Gardens and the Old Town as well as a visit to the Shanghai Museum. We also walk along the famous Bund with its colonial architecture and explore the restored Xintiandi area with its unique 1920’s style Shikumen buildings. In the evening, take a cruise on the panoramic Huangpu River.

Day 4 : Yangtze River Cruise

Board the five-star Victoria Cruises Yangtze ship and spend eight nights sailing to Chongqing. The itinerary below is subject to change at the discretion of the cruise company.

Day 5 : Nanjing

A half day shore excursion to the ancient capital of Nanjing to visit the Dr Sun Yat Sen Mausoleum and the memorial to Nanjing’s Second World War victims.

Day 6 : Mt Huang

Visit the beautiful Mt Huang (Yellow Mountain). Take a cable car to the summit to enjoy the spectacular views of the oddly shaped peaks, rock formations, thousand year old pine trees and mysterious everchanging mist, all of which have inspired local artists for centuries.

Day 7 : Wuhan

We enjoy a shore excursion of Wuhan, capital of Hubei Province and visit the Hubei Provincial Museum.

Day 8 : Cruising the Yangtze

Spend the day relaxing on-board the ship as we continue cruising upstream towards Yichang.

Day 9 : Three Gorges Dam

We sail through the Gezhou Dam near Yichang and then visit the Three Gorges Dam, the largest in the world. We then sail through the Xiling Gorge before entering the Three Gorges Dam ship locks.

Day 10 : Wu Gorge & Qutang Gorge

We enter the Wu Gorge and then sail through the Qutang Gorge before taking an excursion to the Daning River Small Gorges.

Day 11 : Fengdu Ghost City

Join a shore excursion to the ‘Ghost City’ of Fengdu with its captivating temples. Fengdu is also known for its statues of ghosts and devils on Mingshan Hill.

Day 12 : Drive to Chengdu

Disembark from the cruise vessel and transfer to Chengdu, the capital of Sichuan Province. Enjoy a delicious Sichuan meal in the evening.

Day 13 : Giant Pandas, fly to Xian

Visit the famous Panda Conservation Centre to see these charismatic animals being reared in wooded surroundings reminiscent of their natural habitat before flying to Xian, the former ancient capital. In the evening, enjoy a traditional Shui Jiao dumpling meal followed by a performance of Tang Dynasty dancing.

Day 14 : Terracotta Warriors

Visit one of the most important archaeological discoveries of the 20th century – the Terracotta Warriors, and walk along the Ancient City Walls.

Day 15 : Explore Xian, fly to Beijing

Stroll through the lively Muslim Quarter to explore the Islamic food market. Later, fly to Beijing, China's capital city and visit the unique Temple of Heaven.

Day 16 : Forbidden City

Sightseeing today includes a stroll through Tiananmen Square, past Chairman Mao’s Mausoleum to the treasure-filled Forbidden City. Also enjoy a fascinating Chinese Acrobatic show in the evening.

Day 17 : Great Wall & Summer Palace

Walk on the Great Wall and tour the exquisite Summer Palace. Our evening meal includes the local delicacy, Peking Duck.

Day 18 : Fly Beijing to UK

Fly to the UK, arriving home the same or following day.

    On a half day tour, visit Beach Road, drive along the Dubai Creek, stroll through the narrow lanes of the historic Bastakiya area, visit the Dubai Museum and explore Dubai’s traditional souks. (B)

    Day 3: Explore Sharjah
    The Emirate of Sharjah is regarded as the cultural centre of the Middle East. Visit the Natural History Museum, the corniche with the golden Al Majara Souk, Al Naboodah House, the Al Arsa Souk and the Central Souk, famous for its carpets and curios. Later, return to Dubai. (B)

    Day 4: Visit Abu Dhabi
    Capital of the UAE, Abu Dhabi is a cosmopolitan metropolis rising out of the sand. Visit the beautiful corniche, Dhow building yards, stunning palaces and the Petroleum Museum for an insight into the industry that has transformed the UAE. Later, return to Dubai. (B)
