Begin this wonderful tour of Southern China with a cruise through some of the world’s breathtaking scenery on the mighty Yangtze River. Then head to the beautiful city of Guilin and enjoy a cruise on the picturesque Li River. Next is Kunming which is also known as the ‘City of Eternal Spring’ due to its year-round mild and pleasant spring-like conditions. You will also visit Lijiang; a UNESCO world heritage site, Black Dragon Pool and Tiger Leaping Gorge, which is one of the deepest and most dramatic gorges in the world.

Days 1-2 : UK – Shanghai

Fly overnight to Shanghai and transfer to the hotel.

Day 3 : Shanghai

Sightseeing today includes a stroll through the beautiful Yu Gardens and the Old Town as well as a visit to the Shanghai Museum. Also walk along the famous Bund with its colonial architecture and explore the restored Xintiandi area with its unique 1920’s style shikumen buildings. (B,L)

Day 4 : Shanghai – Yangtze River Cruise

Fly to Yichang and transfer by road to board your Yangtze River Cruise vessel for the next four nights (B,L,D)

Days 5-7 : Yangtze River Cruise

Enjoy a tour of the Three Gorges Dam before cruising upstream through some of the most dramatic scenery in the world. Over the next three days, we will take a side-trip to the striking Shennong Stream in a pea-pod boat or visit the Lesser Three Gorges and enjoy various shore excursions along the way. (B,L,D)

Day 8 : Chongqing – Guilin

Disembark from your cruise vessel this morning. Later, fly to Guilin and transfer to your hotel. Enjoy the rest of the day at leisure. (B)

Days 9-10 : Li River Cruise – Yangshuo – Guilin

Cruise the stunning Li River and enjoy the breathtaking landscape of beautiful limestone hills, tranquil fishing scenes and picturesque villages. Continue downstream to the town of Yangshuo set in the lush green rice paddies of Southern China. (B,L). The next day, explore the colourful local markets, walk along the cobblestone streets and soak in the atmosphere of this charming town before returning to Guilin to visit the stunning stalagmites and stalactites of the colourful Reed Flute Caves. (B)

Day 11 : Guilin – Kunming

Fly to Kunming, also known as the ‘City of Eternal Spring’ and transfer to your hotel. Enjoy the rest of the day at leisure. (B).

Days 12 : Guilin – Kunming

Tour the picturesque Stone Forest where the huge limestone columns form surreal shapes and images. (B,L)

Day 13 : Kunming – Lijiang

Fly to Lijiang, a UNESCO world heritage site. Wander along the cobbled streets and see the meandering waterways of the Old Quarter. Also visit Black Dragon Pool. (B,L)

Day 14 : Tiger Leaping Gorge day tour

Visit Tiger Leaping Gorge, one of the most dramatic and deepest gorges in the world and enjoy the truly breathtaking scenery that surrounds it. (B,L)

Day 15 : Lijiang – Kunming

Fly to Kunming and transfer to your hotel. Enjoy the rest of the day at leisure. (B)

Days 16-17 : Kunming – UK

Transfer to Kunming Airport and fly overnight to the UK via Hong Kong, arriving home the following day filled with many happy memories. (B)
