This was our first tour and we were extremely impressed by the organisation and the standards. The size of our group (19) was not overwhelming and allowed us to get to know our fellow travellers well. Our guide Jason was absolutely outstanding at his job. He was caring and knowledgeable with a good sense of humour, which added to the experience.

Our Majestic Yangtze tour was awesome, and packed a great deal into a short space of time (2 weeks).

We did all the must see and must do activities in China such as visiting Shanghai, travelling by bullet train, cruising on the Yangtze River, seeing the Chengdu Pandas and Xian Terracotta Warriors up close and of course walking the Great Chinese Wall early in the morning with beautiful blue skies above.

In addition, on one of the optional tours, we visited the Tribe of the Three Gorges. The scenery was spectacular, the tribe guide, costumes, ships, monkeys and crying marriage show were spectacular, such a memorable highlight for us.

We arrived at Tokyo airport to discover that the Wendy Wu representative did not have our names and had departed without us, despite us presenting the paperwork confirming our participation in the tour. We contacted the emergency number; however, the assistance provided was inadequate. There was no follow-up to ensure our well-being or to offer an apology, which was distressing.

The representative on the tour appeared disorganised and lacked sufficient knowledge about the tour. Her communication skills in English were problematic; one example, she directed us to "look left" when she actually meant right. She also miscommunicated the meeting time, stating 9 PM when it was actually 19.00 hrs multiple times. Additionally, she demonstrated limited understanding of the sights and history; upon arriving in Osaka, she mistakenly identified our location as Kyoto. Her brief descriptions, such as simply stating "this is a lake," did not provide meaningful insight. She was unable to answer questions about the sights or their historical significance and often contributed to confusion during interactions.

Our dietary requirements were not adequately accommodated despite being declared in advance and assurances given that they could be met. One example: My husband, who has an egg allergy, was told that egg noodles in his ramen would be safe, but he needed to clarify that they contained egg, which could have resulted in a serious allergic reaction. It was also expected that individuals with dietary needs would be seated separately from their partners, which was inconvenient and unreasonable. This was not a school trip.

Furthermore, the quality of meals was disappointing. One example: We were told Japanese cuisine would be served at room temperature; however, the burgers we received were cold, and I was able to pick up my dish with my fingers because it had not been properly kept warm, as the flame had extinguished shortly after lighting. Attempts to resolve these issues through customer service were unhelpful and only caused additional frustration for the group. The tour rep could not clearly explain what we were eating, contributing to the group's dissatisfaction.

During the tour, a guest encountered health issues and requested medical assistance to obtain prescription medication to alleviate their symptoms. Although the representative assured the guest that a physician would be provided, no medical support was arranged. This situation was indeed and still is concerning and warrants further attention.

Despite favorable weather, beautiful blossom views, and a wonderful group of fellow travelers from around the world, the overall experience did not meet expectations. Given the significant expense and investment in this trip, which we regarded as a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, the disappointing quality and service levels were particularly disheartening.

I would not recommend Wendy Wu or the Discover Japan tour. Our experience of this extraordinary country was primarily 'discovered' through online research and translation tools. Wendy Wu was a waste of money.

Good tour, interesting, however no jaw dropping moments. Food rather repetitive, hotels good, excellent amenities provided.

I loved the range of activities, historical sites, beautiful gardens, natural landscapes that the tour provided. it was full on - with bullet trains, coach travel, hotel changes and food on the go but I really appreciated the easy access to sites, a good atmosphere in the group and the wide range of experiences provided.
and to go in cherry blossom season ( sakura) was an added bonus. my highlights were Kanazawa for the kenrokuen gardens, Matsumoto Castle ( amazing) and Nara , which was an amazingly stylish town with the Great Buddha Temple.

Just booked an Indian tour. Nice, quick booking with all questions answered. Hoping the actual tour matches the booking experience.

Loved Japan and I thought the itinerary was excellent - a good mix of castles and gardens, temples and shrines, cities and countryside and activities such as paper making. However the tour was let down by the guide who did not have sufficient English to explain things and answer questions, that was disappointing as I had heard good things about Wendy Wu tour leaders.

No evening entertainment, so in bed by 9, no uk speaking TV in rooms would like to keep abreast of world news. Nearly always Japanese food lunch & dinner.

Fabulous holiday with very knowledgeable & personable guides in both countries. Accommodation was very good and within easy walking distance of areas of interest during spare time. Arrangements of everything was excellent from the start of the holiday til the end.
Food was fabulous but maybe a little excessive at times.

On selecting a company for our holiday Wendy Woo’s came out on top for variety, all inclusive and value for money.
When it came to booking the tour the operator was friendly knowledgeable and very helpful, we would thoroughly recommend the company

A very enjoyable tour. Our guide Noriko was excellent, very caring, very professional. I'm coeliac and the food choice was limited in comparison to the majority of our group. Gluten free bread was rarely available and generally substituted with a bowl of sticky rice and main meals often substituted with more raw fish. I would recommend the tour but offer a heads up to coeliacs before booking

The itenary let me embraced so much of culture in China. Almost all optional excursions were outstanding. Great hotels and cruise facilities. The main reason I chose this particular trip was due to allowance of free time (2.5) at great wall of China giving me the opportunity go up to the 12th Fortress while others did what was suitable them. This option was not available with any other tour company and it was so great that all excursion levels were addressed at this monumental place.
Would have been perfect if Zhanjiaji National Park was also included but had a brilliant time. Fellow travellers in the group were fantastic too. Highly recommend this tour.
