Overview Rating:

This was our first tour and we were extremely impressed by the organisation and the standards. The size of our group (19) was not overwhelming and allowed us to get to know our fellow travellers well. Our guide Jason was absolutely outstanding at his job. He was caring and knowledgeable with a good sense of humour, which added to the experience.

Amazing trip with lots to see and do. To fit so much in requires quite a lot of bus and train trips but we got to see many sides of Japan from large famous cities to smaller towns and activities. Hiroshima was very moving. Paper making was great fun too. Mount Fuji showed itself on both days we were in the area. You get time to shop in Tokyo and on the way. Go up every tall building you can. We did 2 in Osaka and the very high Skytree in Tokyo. We had a 3 night stopover in Hong Kong which was great as well. As on option if ending in Tokyo maybe stay a few more nights as there was a lot more to see than we could manage in 3 nights. The group we were with had a great time together. Highly recommended.

Poor organisation during the tour. Itinerary not adhered to. No hot water in one hotel. Guide was clearly inexperienced and untrained.

It was a well organised, seamless tour of some of Japan's "must see" sites as promissed. Guide very approachable and helpful. Drivers also good. All hotels and facilities were good.

A very busy trip. Lots to see and do along the way.
You need to be fit and active to complete the site seeing due to the number of steep stairs encountered as you get to the top of the ancient castles.
Plenty of Japanese food, raw fish, individual BBQs, Ramen etc.
Well coordinated by the travel company as getting a group to the correct rail wasn't aways easy at busy stations.
Meet some good fellow travellers (mostly from Oz !)
Could have done with some extra days at the end to unwind and see more of Sapporo ( our train was delayed due to wind and rain- the only bad weather we had during our 21 day trip !)
Loved Japan can't wait to return soon !

This trip was exceptionally interesting and educational but at times in Tibet, disturbing, because of the level of monitoring, ie cameras, and police/military checks.
The trip was very well organised and our tour leader was fantastic. She worked so hard to ensure we were well looked after and all our various needs were catered for and she did this apparently stress free, which is incredibly difficult to achieve.
The local guides and drivers were also very good.
The food was excellent, except at the 1 night at Everest.

A very full and varied itinerary which was carefully constructed and balanced. Not much time to acclimatise if you do a direct flight via Dubai as I did so a stop over worth considering. Japanese guide very knowledgeable and approachable. Full board paid dividends as it allowed for wide and varied food options at lunch and for dinner. 28 on tour so at maximum size, but a great group. The discussions about the holiday, and with the tour guide, continuing through What’s App 2 weeks on.

Flights with Turkish Airlines very good. The hotels were good. The food was excellent and plentiful. The locations were magnificent. So much history to get your mind round. Wendy Wu are a terrific company to travel with.

Our Tour: Poor

This tour was rushed with little time to immerse in the local culture and see the lesser known sights. Instead you rush from one to another key tourist location in a tick box exercise approach. Similarly the food was disappointing and not varied and for a Japanese tour we didn't see any Raman, Sushi (once on the last night) and instead we had many hotpot meals (lunch and dinner.) The hotels were comfortable but located well outside the centre of the towns again stopping any wandering about. The group was large (27) and the coach journeys long. Our guide was the highlight - he was knowledgable, engaging and fun. We felt sorry for him delivering a set Wendy Wu package as he clearly wasn't able to use his skills to enhance our experiences.
