We asked our most knowledgeable team members what destinations they think will be the hottest in 2027, and what we got back was a wide range of absolutely wonderful places!
Here’s what they said:

Senior Tailor-Made Tour Consultant Katherine thinks China is hot stuff for 2027:
“Zhangjiajie is one of those places that genuinely feels otherworldly. Its dramatic landscape of towering sandstone pillars, deep valleys, forests and mist makes it very different from the cities and cultural sites elsewhere in China.”

Marketing Manager Natalie reckons Kyrgyzstan will go all the way to the top:
“With more travellers seeking off-the-beaten-track destinations, I think Kyrgyzstan will be a hot pick for 2027. After appearing on the BBC’s Race Across the World earlier this year, the country’s growing popularity was clear, with the programme showcasing the dramatic beauty of its spectacular scenery and welcoming nomadic culture. It’s perfect for those seeking incredible views, ancient Silk Road history and the chance to discover a destination that few Western tourists have yet explored.”

Our Global Product Director Peter agrees with Natalie that Kyrgyzstan is having its moment:
“Called the ‘Switzerland of Central Asia’, Kyrgyzstan is a stunningly beautiful country of mountains, lakes and sweeping Alpine pastures. Framed by the mighty Tien Shan and Pamir-Alay mountains, 90% of the landmass lies 1,500 metres or more above sea level. Due to its pivotal position on the ancient Silk Road, every aspect of Kyrgyz culture, from language, music, dance, sport, cuisine, architecture and religion, is a fascinating fusion of East and West. Visitor numbers from the UK have soared since the BBC’s Race Across the World showcased its astonishing landscapes and genuinely welcoming people. The best time to visit is now.”

Product Manager Christina has picked the Philippines for 2027 greatness:
“With over 7,000 islands to explore, the Philippines is a destination that offers an incredible blend of pristine beaches, dramatic landscapes, vibrant cities and fascinating local culture. From the clear turquoise waters and limestone cliffs of Palawan to the spectacular rice terraces of Luzon, there is an extraordinary variety of experiences to discover. With travellers increasingly seeking more adventurous and authentic experiences beyond the traditional favourites of Southeast Asia, I think the Philippines is set to be one of the hot destinations for 2027. The best time to discover its islands is now.”

Gary, our Head of Trade Sales, is betting on Southern Africa for the hottest spot:
“Southern Africa could be a hot destination as the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup is scheduled for Autumn 2027 which will involves South Africa, Namibia and Zimbabwe with the first ever world cup match hosted by Namibia. No doubt these countries will optimise the opportunity by showcasing the beauty, diversity and welcome of these countries as must-go-to destinations. It is estimated there are 13-16 million cricket fans in the UK that will no doubt be glued to the championship on TV and various media platforms therefore a great potential opportunity for WWT to ride on.”

Senior Product Manager Mattia has stuck closer to home for his top pick, going for the Balkans:
“It’s a region with an incredible variety of experiences, from the beautiful Adriatic coastline of Croatia and Montenegro, to the dramatic landscapes and fascinating history of Bosnia & Herzegovina, they offer something for everyone. You get medieval towns, beautiful national parks, crystal-clear waters, historic cities and incredible local food, all while travelling through countries that still feel a little more off the beaten track compared to Western Europe. I think that combination of scenery, culture, history and authentic experiences makes the Balkans a really exciting destination for 2027.”

Product Manager Jayne has hopped across the Atlantic to Nova Scotia for her number one:
“Nova Scotia offers a wonderfully different side of Canada, with spectacular coastal scenery, colourful fishing communities and a rich maritime heritage. Direct flights from London Heathrow to Halifax make this beautiful corner of Canada easy to reach, yet it still feels refreshingly less travelled. Discover picturesque lighthouses, secluded bays and historic towns, and experience the breathtaking scenery of Cape Breton and the Cabot Trail. Sample fresh local seafood, uncover the region’s Celtic and Acadian influences and enjoy warm Maritime hospitality. From lively Halifax to charming coastal communities, Nova Scotia is a place of natural beauty, fascinating stories and unforgettable experiences.”

Cat, also a product manager, had such a hard time deciding she wrote two top picks, but in the end managed to pick:
“Argentina stretches almost 3,700 kilometres from north to south, resulting in an extraordinary variety of scenery, climates and experiences. Its capital, Buenos Aires, is known for its grand European-influenced architecture, historic neighbourhoods and tango culture, while further south Patagonia is home to vast steppe, glacial lakes and the immense Perito Moreno Glacier. In the north, Iguazú Falls forms one of the world’s largest waterfall systems, while Argentina’s strong food and wine traditions are evident throughout the country. From March 2027, British Airways will increase connectivity with a daily non-stop service between London Heathrow and Buenos Aires, making Argentina easier to reach from the UK.”
