At Wendy Wu Tours, we want to know what you think about the service you receive when you book with us and what you thought about your tour itself. It's this vital information that helps us to improve in the future. With this in mind, we have teamed up with an independent review platform called feefo. Once you have made a booking or returned from one of our tours, you'll receive an email from feefo asking you to rate your experience with us. We then display these reviews right here, completely untouched by us, so you can trust them 100%.

This fully-escorted tour unquestionably lived up to its name by being truly delightful from start to finish. Over its 18-day duration we enjoyed uninterrupted sunshine and covered a lot of ground, not just literally (i.e. approximately 3000 miles of internal travel by air, coach, boat and train), but also historically and culturally. As a consequence, the pace was at times quite challenging, prompting occasional wistfulness on our part for a little more opportunity to enjoy the comforts and facilities of the consistently good, and sometimes very swish, hotels in which we stayed. Ultimately, however, a bit more downtime would have been a poor exchange for any of the many gems which Wendy Wu managed to pack into an itinerary which was always busy without ever feeling rushed. Highlights for us included, inevitably, the Great Wall, the Terracotta Warriors, and the Panda Conservation Centre, all of which surpassed our already high expectations. There were, however, many other less iconic but equally memorable experiences: e.g. a leisurely, spectacular cruise on the River Li, and our visits to a tea plantation at Meijiawu Village, the Reed Flute Caves near Guilin, and the Grand Buddha at Leshan. We also thoroughly enjoyed the 6 shows which were either included in the tour package itself or available as optional extras, most notably the Impression Liu Sanjie Show in the bay at Yangshuo, the Face-Changing Show in Chengdu and the Shaolin Monks' Kung Fu Show in Beijing. If, like us, you were to take up all of the optional extras, which number about 8 in all and include a ride on the high-speed Maglev train in Shanghai, you would need to budget for a locally-payable total of about £250 per person, but in our view this is very good value for money.
Our many adventures were expertly choreographed by our good-humoured national tour guide, David, who seamlessly organised the tour group's numerous excursions and micro-managed the complicated logistics of our travel, sleeping and eating arrangements. A mine of information about China in general and about his home city, Xi-an, in particular, he provided us and our fellow-travellers with invaluable help and support with routine issues (e.g. shopping advice, translation, locating banks, ATMs, pharmacies, etc.) as well as responding sensitively and efficiently to a range of minor ailments, an accidental injury and a -serious, but thankfully resolved, medical emergency. David regularly entertained us with amusing anecdotes and jokes, but we felt honoured that he was also willing to share so much about himself, his family and his hopes. He was ably assisted by a succession of local guides, all of them very personable and knowledgeable and one, in particular, deserving of special mention. Alice, our elfin but feisty guide in Shanghai and Suzhou, took very seriously her responsibilities for our well-being and for our better enjoyment and understanding of her region. A very warm, endearing character, she went way beyond the call of duty in giving us glimpses of her personal life, taking and circulating group photos and even, on a couple of occasions, singing to us all on the coach.
Alice it was who unwittingly labelled us as "The Vegetables", along with the only other non-meat-eater in our group, Nicola. Her innocent mistake was echoed by a seemingly limited understanding of vegetarianism in some of the restaurants in which we ate, where succulent, predominantly vegetable dishes were sometimes rendered inaccessible to us by small amounts of meat and where plain boiled vegetables were occasionally our only option. Indeed, at one stage it felt as though we were being stalked from one restaurant to the next by the same plate of boiled cauliflower!! Generally, however, we ate very well. This was partly as a result of the interventions of David, Alice and our other guides, but partly too because of the thoughtfulness and generosity of other members of our tour group, All of them at various times acted as unofficial tasters where the meat content of a dish was uncertain, and they regularly ensured that we and Nicola had first dibs and second helpings whenever tofu, aubergines or other vegetarian dishes appeared. In many respects these mealtime collaborations typified our 15-strong tour group which, contrary to our pre-tour reservations about spending almost 3 weeks in the close company of strangers, proved to be as kind, as companionable and as cohesive an assortment of people as you could ever hope to meet.
In conclusion, we would heartily recommend this tour, which even included a promotional 2-night stop-over in Hong Kong. To all at Wendy Wu, especially our guides and, in particular, David and Alice, and to each and every one of our travelling companions, thank you very much for making this trip so utterly exhilarating and memorable.
Thank you for taking the time to provide such detailed feedback!
Your comments have been passed across to the relevant departments, and we hope to welcome you on-board another tour in the future.
Very good, but you sent my passport to the wrong address ........ !
Fascinating, but cut out the Big Buddha. Waste of a day.
Well organised, friendly and helpful.National guide was very good with nothing too much trouble. Hotels were variable but always clean and tidy. Meals were good and varied.
Never been on a holiday like this before but if we ever decide to go to South East Asia or China again we will use Wendy Wu.
Lovely venues, an experience we will never forget.
Helpful on the phone when making initial enquiries and booking. Good follow-up with paperwork, visa organisation and answering questions over the phone
A Well-planned tour - fitting a lot into the time (busy and, at times, tiring, but not surprising if you want to see as much as possible in the time). There were a couple of sites where we personally would have liked a little longer to see more, but it is difficult to cater for a group with varied interests. Helpful guide with us for the whole tour who made our care her chief concern, supplemented by local guides who knew their areas and were interesting.
your overall organisation was first class. Alice, our national guide was out standing - I couldn't rate her too highly. The local guides also were excellent. All of them (with perhaps one exception) were very well informed and good communicators with a good command of English. I have already highly recommended Wendy Wu Tours to my friends.
See my comments above which in summary state that the tour was excellent, the guides (especially Alice our national guide) were first class, the overall organisation went smoothly (apart from the lack of a western style breakfast in our Beijing hotel) and I would highly recommend Wendy Wu Tours.
Thank you for your lovely comments!
A wonderful tour manager, Summer made the whole trip very enjoyable and smooth.
Thank you for your lovely review!
A very efficient and helpful booking process with emails handled promptly and all questions dealt with efficiently and in a friendly manner.
The tour it-self was well managed and whilst some concerns were raised about the standard and quality of some hotel rooms, the overall tour was a pleasure that was well managed by the main rep and those leading the specific city/region tours. Organisationally it could not be bettered.
Good overall value for money. Some of the local options were a little "iffy" but the explanations of what to expect of the local tour options was good.
Thank you for warm comments, we are delighted to hear you enjoyed your tour in China. We are sorry to hear some of of the hotels did not meet your expectations, we will continue to closely monitor the feedback we receive for future development.
We hope you have returned with many happy memories from this unforgettable destination.
National guide was excellent.
Only criticism would be the tendency to give us too much information immediately at the start of each day. Frankly some of us were just too tired to take it all in!!
Great overview - hotels fine - delivered what it 'said on the tin'
National Guide Jackie Sun was exceptional.
busy but very enjoyable
Hectic schedule but packed in all the highlights we wished to see. Booking was easy. Our National guide was excellent and the various local guides were good although at times they fed us too much detailed information.
Wendy Wu delivered what they promised so no complaints. We found the group (28) a little too large and as a result we found the tour a little rushed at times and there was no flexibility in the time spent at places etc.
We would like to thank you for your valued feedback. Without this we would not be in a position to deliver this service.
We are sorry to hear that you thought the group size was too large and found the tour faces paced at times. I have passed on your feedback for future developments.
We hope you have returned with many happy memorable memories from this unforgettable destination!
The service was first class and all the guides were excellent.
The tour was very well organised and led and we saw everything we were expecting and a great deal more, thanks to Johnson and the local guides.
We are extremely happy to hear you enjoyed the China Delights Tour, we hope you have returned with many happy memorable memories from this unforgettable destination.
Excellent arrangements from start to finish, enabled us to see so many of China's top sites in a relatively short period of time.
The Tour overall was excellent. The only thing that didn't quite suit us was the "set" and very early meal times.
Thank you for your valued feedback we are delighted to hear you enjoyed the China delights Tour. We hope you have returned with many happy memorable memories from this amazing destination.
We acknowledge your comments about the meal times and we would once again like to thank you for your valued feedback.
Well organised tour, made especially good due to our Tour Manager Nick,
He made sure that our hotel rooms were okay, meals to ever bodies taste, checked throughout our site visits that everbody was accounted for. Nick is a excellent Tour Manager who made the tour for us. Nick is an asset to Wendy Wu.
Excellent value for money, all meals are of good variety and quality. Transport and site visits well organized.
Thank you for your positive comments about your national guide Nick, we have passed on your comments to our local operator in China. Where your comments will be passed on, I'm sure Nick will be delighted!
We all very happy to hear that you enjoyed your China Delights tour, and hope you have returned with many memorable memories.
The national guides are excellent.
However, a couple of the hotels were not upto the standard we have experienced before on Wendy Wu tour.
National Guide Nick Lui was excellent and made the holiday even better. Hotels and food overall were very good and content on the whole was excellent.
Saw some sights that should not be missed and met some lovely people. Chinese people were very nice. 3 weeks of enjoyment. Recommend the tour to everyone
