Chile is a sliver of a country (on average it’s just 175 kilometres wide) wedged between the Andes and the Pacific Ocean. A country of extreme and pristine wilderness, it stretches from the bleak and barren expanses of the Atacama Desert, an area of volcanoes, salt lakes and flamingos, 4,300 kilometres to the majestic and rugged wilds of Patagonia, where you’ll find yourself amongst glaciers, snowy peaks and penguins. Chile has developed a distinctly different vibe to the rest of South America – it is a more relaxed and easy place to explore but above all, it gives a whole new definition to the great outdoors.
