Nature reigns supreme in Arenal Volcano National Park, and visitors can really immerse themselves in the sights and sounds of the Costa Rican jungle here. Towering trees and lush vegetation provide a home to a variety of wildlife, including sloths, monkeys and countless species of birds.

Arenal Volcano, the park’s namesake towers over the region. This majestic monolith most recently erupted in 2010. The lava has now ceased; however, the sight of the volcano is no less breathtaking. Visitors can wander the park’s nature trails which snake through various ecosystems, look for wildlife, observe the barren lava fields and bathe in thermal baths.
