Star Clippers

Celebrating 25 Years of tour excellence
Close
Recreating the romance of bygone travellers, Star Clippers’ ships are authentic recreations of classic sailing clippers teamed with the activities, amenities and atmosphere of a private yacht. Your experience will be intimate and unique, spending days on the deck under wind-filled sails, the smaller ship size allowing calls at ports not frequented by bigger vessels. Well cared for by a highly skilled crew, sumptuous fed and with plenty of activities onboard and onshore, it’s easy to see why Star Clippers has forged a reputation for once-in-a-lifetime adventures.

For more than 30 years Star Clippers has been giving people the chance to experience the thrill of sailing aboard a tall ship. With all the gleaming mahogany, brass fittings, leather and hardwood you could imagine, alongside state-of-the-art features and facilities, you get all the adventure of the past with all the comforts of modernity.

Life onboard is convivial, the indoor-outdoor Tropical Bar the heart of the ship and social hub; it’s here you’ll come for onboard activities and nightly entertainment planned by the crew and officers. Diving and water sports, such as laser sailing, water skiing, SUP etc, are always available, while shore excursions show off the best of your chosen destination. Plentiful deck space has sun loungers and two small saltwater swimming pools, while the library’s leather armchairs offer a peaceful retreat. Venturing up to the lookout station, placed at the first yardarm of each mast for space to sit and watch the sea, the sky and watch the happenings on the deck below, is a must.

With an open-seating dining policy, meals are laidback and delicious. Lunches are often barbeques on paradisical islands while dinner is served in the elegantly appointed dining room, a suitable setting for the chef’s finest culinary presentations, flavours borrowed from all corners of the earth. timetables and a dress code that ends at dinner, a Star Clippers voyage feels less like a cruise and more like a journey aboard a private yacht. Pair that with a Wendy Wu land programme and you have a holiday that is truly unlike anything else.

Why Star Clippers

What makes Star Clippers different?

What makes Star Clippers different?

The ships are working sailing vessels, not cruise ships with sails for decoration. The engines run when the wind drops, but the fleet relies on canvas for propulsion wherever conditions allow. On board, the atmosphere reflects the scale - with fewer than 230 guests, service is personal, the public spaces feel genuinely uncrowded, and there's no particular pressure to do anything. There are no production shows or formal evenings. The social life centres on the Tropical Bar and Piano Bar, and in port, local musicians occasionally come aboard in place of scheduled entertainment.
On Deck

On Deck

Guests are welcome to take an active role in sailing the ship if they choose - helping to raise the sails, climbing to the crow's nest with a safety harness, or simply watching from the bow nets. Kayaks, windsurfers and snorkelling equipment are available at no extra charge. Royal Clipper has a stern marina platform for swimming directly off the ship; Star Clipper and Star Flyer do not. Each ship has two swimming pools; Royal Clipper has three. Deck space per passenger is generous by any measure.
Dining

Dining

All three ships operate open-seating dining throughout the voyage - no assigned tables and no fixed sittings. The menu changes daily and draws from a broad international range. The dress code after dark is informal: no shorts or flip-flops in the dining room is the only rule consistently applied. Breakfast and lunch are buffet-style; dinner is served.
