Wahiba Sands is the quintessential desert; a seemingly endless stretch of undulating dunes. Sculpted into waves-esque crests and troughs by the wind, some tower to nearly 100 metres, their sands shifting gently from golden to burnished yellow with the sun’s progress across the sky.

Exploring amongst the dunes is quite the adventure, as you traverse the ever-moving landscapes. Always bleakly beautiful, it is not as hauntingly empty as it appears - you may encounter some of the hardy Bedouin communities that have wandered here for millennia, or some of the surprisingly plentiful wildlife that call it home.

Spending the night is a glimpse at the Middle East’s most traditional way of life – a night under the star-filled sky should not be missed!
