Our first time on vacation with Wendy Wu, it exceeded expectations and we would not hesitate in travelling with them again or recommending them.
The Legends of the Silk Road, travelling the Northwest of China was a truly exciting and fascinating adventure. Visiting cities that were part of the age old journey brought history to life. The Western part of the Great Wall of China and viewing one of the most significant discoveries namely the Terracotta Warriors including their horses in life size form was magnificent.

This was a long tour of China in a group of 26. It was fabulous. We covered all the major sites in China led by an excellent national guide supported by local guides. Everything worked well with good hotels, efficient transport, delicious food and fascinating visits. I would certainly recommend this tour to anyone considering a trip to China. There were many highlights and no disappointments.

Friendly, efficient

This was an excellent introduction to China which, in many ways, is a country on a different scale to others. We had a good taste of the country through bus, train and plane, The hotels were all of good quality and we certainly did not go hungry. One highlight was the three day cruise on the Yangtze river, another was the river boat in Shanghai to see the city by night. Raymond, our guide, ensured all arrangements ran smoothly and did a good job looking after us. There were a couple of blips along the way. On the Yangtze we were sent us off on a day tour with a non-English speaking guide which was naughty and quite stressful. And the local guide in Shanghai did not take seriously my allergy to shellfish - serving up egg fried rice with prawns, luckily spotted in good time. Overall, the trip was big, hugely educational, good value for money and an excellent taste of China.

Prior to booking submitted a couple of quick information requests via the web site, disappointing that neither were responded to.

I didn’t realise I could review all the flight options by starting to make a booking on line. You have to enter full names of all passengers before you get to that level of information. It would be helpful if it was more obvious that this information was available and if it could be accessed without having to put all the passenger details in when you’re not yet ready to actually book.

We had a magical time in China made even better by our excellent guide Cynthia Miao. An unexpected part of the tour was the variety of food the guides chose which turned the tour into a gastronomical delight. Thank you Cynthia and local guides for ensuring a wonderful experience.

4 star other local guides - too much talking and information which will not be remembered, and English not always up to 5 star level.
5 star and wonderful food.- No need to do Pizza Hut lunch or Radisson Hotel steak and chips. Neither up to expected standard. We loved Chinese food.
Cut out the 3 days across Desert. Fly Turpan to Kashgar. What we saw in these 3 days was not interesting enough to warrant the long bus rides.
Three lots of Budhist caves on the tour was overkill. especially the one in Kuqa.
Excellent consideration of toilet stops on long bus rides with good facilities.
Needs a day, mid tour, with no activity in a city where the hotel is close to main shops. End of day after dinner and a long day was insufficient opportunity to fulfill any shopping desires, especially non tourist souvenir shopping. Came home having not been able to buy anything on my shopping list.
Hotels were all excellent and where small fridge (for medication storage) was not in the room, Luis made suitable arrangements.
Almost all the group had been to China before. Guides need to consider this when talking non stop. WWT needs to consider this choosing sightseeing in Beijing and Shanghai. Pre tour questionnaire would enable WWT to plan different sights new to many of the group. Nearly all the group had already been to Beijing.
Beijing on Golden week, weekend was a disaster. Both days were total repeats for me and others and not enjoyed. The crowds were a nightmare. Millions locals sightseeing and enjoying the holiday weekend.
ESim - Recommendations for ESim not to include Airalo. No connection for 2 of us while in Gusan province. Big disappointment. Do not recommend this ESim.

Our national tour guide was Mark Wong, he was excellent, friendly, knowledgeable, always available to help with any issues. He made the trip the wonderful experience it was. He was the total professional.
Also Cherry one of the local guides (in the one of the photos below) was very good as well, her jokes made us all laugh.
So many highlights, like the Wall, the scenery around the Three Gouges, & the panda bears to mention a few. Great trip.

Absolutely fantastic, cram packed tour with so may contrasting places and experiences. Walking along the Great Walk and strolling round mountain tops where we stood above the clouds and looked down at the brown Yangtze where it met with its green tributaries. The deep crevices of the rift valley with its shafts of daylight poking through. We went under overhanging boulders and deep dark gorges. Such contrasting features.

We experienced the hustle and bustle of huge cities like Beijing and Shanghai and smaller towns like Guilin with a slower pace. We met Mr. Wong the fisherman, with his cormorants and asked him about his life, a way of life that's dying out as youngsters don't want to fish. They'd rather have city jobs.

I loved the .people's parks and the tea rooms with beautiful traditional music playing in one area and live singers backed by musicians in another part. Whilst visiting a rural settings just outside Guilin with its serene, tranquil, stunning scenery, we stumbled on a village wedding and were greeted with sweeties and peanuts as soon as we were spotted.

I will never forget the magnificent sight of the Terra-cotta army in their original burial sites and close encounters with a few of the warriors preserved in glass cases for closer inspection. And of course watching those lazy laid back pandas strolling around their grounds and leisurely climbing trees.

We went to four shows all very diverse and highly entertaining from the unique singing of the Beijing Opera, to the spectacular water show on the lake and then the jaw dropping acrobats and bikers in Shanghai.

Out on the streets and particularly in historic places, were lots of young ladies wearing stunning , traditional very evocative of a traditional Chinese culture. They were very beautiful.

There was so much more to see but I've already written more than I probably should.

Our tour guide, Alice was very professional with all the qualities necessary to keep us well fed, entertained, safe and well informed. She, along with Wendy Wu made this a trip of a life time. I loved every cram packed minute and crave those delicious banquet meals.

This is a superb tour for anyone looking to learn about the history and culture of China. There are numerous highlights but the Great Wall and the Hanging Temple were particular standout moments. It is a packed itinerary and perhaps one or two half days to self-explore a city/town or enjoy the hotel facilities would have enhanced the tour. All the hotels were of a very good standard apart from the one in Luoyang where the facilities and breakfast were poor. On the whole the food was enjoyable with a few exceptional meals and only one or two below average. More often than not there was too much food at each sitting and it seemed a great shame that it was going to waste. The tour organisation was excellent throughout the journey though perhaps we were fortunate there were only 19 in the group as I think any more may have led to more delays and chaos. All the regional tour guides were knowledgeable and helpful giving an insight into modern day China. In addition our national guide George was exceptional looking after our group as though we were his own family. Overall I would highly recommend this tour.

This was an excellent tour of China. We saw so much and would love to go back one day. Our tour guide Brittany could not have been better she was a credit to Wendy Wu and China.

Our National ****** China, Andy Shao was fantastic from 1st day I arrived along with others joining the tour. Our Hotel rooms were great, took me awhile to figure out lifts with card to room along with others first night. Others on my tour a great bunch and helpful.
Andy would relay us all at Dinner time for breakfast times and and what time to be on bus. The local guide were great too and helpful. The Coach drivers and bus all good. Andy always counted us re moving on to a new place,and to keep our whispers on when explaining history & how to say local names and places, very informative. Took awhile to adjust to some dishes personally, not others, but great food choices all along for breakfast lunch and dinners. Also Andy always counted us when back on bus which was great as travelling on my own was abit daunting, but all worked out with helpful fellow passengers.
We certainly packed heaps in a days touring and was amazing with the electric cars and bikes everywhere and not crashing into each other. Safe to walk around with all those looking on cameras and police around. Glad to be on a tour though.
Please make sure Andy gets my review, would recommend him and the local guides, but him especially to anyone else who would like to do this tour.

I and maybe others felt we were rushing to all destinations etc.but nt enough time to see everything in one place, then to much time at other places. Disappointed with some lunch places and food. Also he wasn't as efficient with keeping close with whispers and being visible with flag. I got lost at one place and kept looking out for him,finally found him and 10mins late back on bus.
A nice man, abit over Buddhist temples tho.
Scenery lovely and enjoyable otherwise 😀 also all the way thru trip no rain, only after we left provinces, very lucky.
