Celebrating 25 Years of tour excellence
Close
Montenegro may be the smallest of the Balkan nations, but it certainly packs a punch! There are towering mountains, steep canyons and pristine forest inland. Then there’s a glorious coastline of rocky coves and swathes of golden sands lapped by the cerulean waters of the Adriatic. All this dotted with medieval cities, serene monasteries and terracotta-roofed villages; holidays in Montenegro can be as adventurous, culture-filled or relaxed as you please.

A hidden gem (for now!) at the heart of the Balkans, those who do make it to Montenegro are bewitched by its dramatic landscapes, historic settlements, warm and friendly locals, delicious food and excellent wines. The breathtaking fjord-like Bay of Kotor, backed by stark mountains offers shimmering waters, red-roof-lined waterfronts and Venetian history. Its best-known spot is the spectacular Kotor, an old city draped between the mountain foot and the water. Within its walls you’ll find a maze of cobbled streets to stroll, happening upon medieval churches, café-filled squares and crumbling palaces at every turn. From Kotor, you can venture out onto the waters of the bay to explore among tiny islands and the quaint villages that line the shore. Budva, another historic walled city, is just as inspiring, but this time in a beach front setting. With an atmospheric old town, Riviera sands and a vibrant nightlife, all backed by coastal mountains, it's no wonder that it has become the poster-child for Montenegrin tourism.

Montenegro Highlights

Budva

Budva is one of Montenegro’s oldest settlements, with a history dating back more than 2,500 years.

Its historic Old Town sits within well-preserved medieval walls, with narrow cobbled streets leading to ancient churches, small squares and the citadel.

Beyond the walls, a beautiful coastline of beaches and clear blue waters makes Budva one of Montenegro’s most popular seaside destinations.

Lake Skadar

Stretching across the border between Montenegro and Albania, Lake Skadar is the largest lake in Southern Europe and one of the region’s most important wetlands.

Kotor

Set at the head of the dramatic Bay of Kotor, this UNESCO-listed town is surrounded by steep limestone mountains and shimmering Adriatic waters.

Its beautifully preserved medieval Old Town is enclosed by ancient walls, with narrow cobbled streets leading to the 12th-century St Tryphon’s Cathedral.
