Enchanting China

Our Tour: Good

This was an excellent introduction to China which, in many ways, is a country on a different scale to others. We had a good taste of the country through bus, train and plane, The hotels were all of good quality and we certainly did not go hungry. One highlight was the three day cruise on the Yangtze river, another was the river boat in Shanghai to see the city by night. Raymond, our guide, ensured all arrangements ran smoothly and did a good job looking after us. There were a couple of blips along the way. On the Yangtze we were sent us off on a day tour with a non-English speaking guide which was naughty and quite stressful. And the local guide in Shanghai did not take seriously my allergy to shellfish - serving up egg fried rice with prawns, luckily spotted in good time. Overall, the trip was big, hugely educational, good value for money and an excellent taste of China.

We're very sorry to hear about the language barrier with the guide on your Yangtze day excursion – that's certainly not acceptable, and we can only imagine how frustrating that must have been. More importantly, we sincerely apologise that your shellfish allergy wasn't communicated adequately in Shanghai. Food allergies are a serious matter and should always be treated as such. We'll be sharing this with our operations team to prevent similar situations in future.

Our Tour: Excellent

A wonderful tour that captured significant highlights in each city. It was well balanced, some big days but totally well worth it. Each day was informative, and very well organised. Exceptional tour leader, Steven who is a real asset to the company, together with local guides made this trip magical. All the optional tour were incredible, and glad we didn’t miss them, they were the icing on the cake. Transportation was excellent, and all bus drivers were brilliant. Hotels were of a great standard, however we upgraded a couple pre tour which was excellent. Loved the beauty, the culture, the people of this amazing country, completely shattered our preconceived ideas, all the big cities were stunning and beautiful, clean and welcoming. It was a trip of a lifetime.

Excellent tour of China! Right from the first day this tour is full of all the things that China is well known for; things that we’ve all heard about and read about and in this tour we visited them all. Our tour manager, Alice, was very attentive, knowledgeable and thoughtful to everyone on the tour, and she spoke impeccable English. She is an excellent asset to Wendy Wu Tours! We had never been to China before and this tour was just right for a first introduction. Well done Wendy Wu Tours!

Enchanted China covered all the highlights of China accompanied by an excellent, friendly and knowledgeable guide. We were a group of 15

There is a lot of travel, with 3 long train journeys and a lot of walking on many days, but the sights are all worth the effort. China is an extraordinary country and this trip enabled us to get glimpses of the highlights. There were some excellent excursions and shows included as part of the trip but also lots of optional trips, which cost extra and had to be paid for in cash in the local currency.

The hotels were generally very good with good facilities and all the local guides were knowledgeable. Breakfast was included and often lunch served in a local restaurant.

Overall it was an unforgettable experience we thoroughly enjoyed.

Very organised and well planned.

Product :

Good original price for tour but then seemed to be lots of extras that had to be paid while on the tour. It would have been better for these to be paid up-front.

Everything ran to schedule.. Most of the hotels were good. The Beijing hotel was a bit grubby.

The national guide was excellent and the local guides good. Better local info could have been provided for the free time on this tour, eg vicinity of local restaurants, local attractions etc. Where lunches were not provided the tours that overlapped lunc time should have included time and recommendations where to eat lunch. English City maps would have been useful. We only got these in Shanghai.

Group included meals needed to provide for all tastes rather than the lowest level of spiciness. Group meals were to bland for our taste.

See above. Generally good but room for improvement re the Beijing hotel, local information for free time. The amenities package for the Yangtze cruise was miss sold as it only covered 2 pre and dinner drinks and no drinks for lunches. We sorted this out but it was a problem.

We enjoyed the overall experience of the tour.

The holiday was well organised. Our National Guide was excellent and the whole China experience, although busy and hot was a wonderful experience with visits to all tourists' sites in China, with the added experience of the bullet train, the cruise down the Yangtze, etc.

We could not have done this trip on our own, so we were pleased that we went with a reputable company who knows the country well.
