Japan does tend to have higher prices for Western wines due to import taxes, and portion sizes can be smaller than what many travellers are used to. Regarding tipping and service charges: in Japan, service charges (typically 10–15%) are often added automatically in restaurants and bars, especially for drinks. Tipping is not customary and can sometimes even be seen as rude but I can see how the service charge on wine could cause confusion. I've also taken your feedback on board about the mixed hotels and meals, that's not the consistent experience we want you to have, so I'll make sure the team looks into this. And I take your point about value for money, especially when you've paid a fair amount. The idea of adding an extra excursion or two above the standard itinerary is a really good one; I'll pass that on.
