Good to Go

You can holiday to India without having to quarantine either on your arrival in the country or on your return to the UK. There are also no travel advisories in place against travel from the FCDO meaning you can book with complete peace of mind.

Kerala holidays are relaxed, tranquil and care-free, the perfect introduction to India. With a 600 kilometre coastline of beautiful beaches, a maze of lazy backwaters and an expanse of lush plantations, Kerala is one of India’s most naturally gifted states.

Known as ‘God’s Own Country’, the spectacular landscapes are complemented by a rich culture of dance, martial arts and Ayurveda, all influenced by the foreign spice traders that left their mark on cities and customs alike. Life is a lot slower in Kerala, so it’s a place best explored at an easy pace.

Top of most visitors list on a Kerala holiday is a relaxing cruise on Kerala’s backwaters. A chain of lakes and lagoons stretching for over 900km, the best way to experience them is on a converted rice barge. As you glide through this watery paradise, you’ll get the chance to stop at various towns and villages to meet the locals and sample authentic Keralan cuisine.

A holiday to Kerala also has more than its fair share of natural wonders. In the Periyar National Park you can see rare and endangered flora, as well as some of India’s most majestic animals. High in the Cardamom Hills, look out for tigers, wild pigs, sloth bears and flying squirrels. Kerala’s lush landscapes climb into the cool air in the Western Ghats mountain range where you’ll find Munnar, a picturesque town surrounded by tea plantations and spice gardens where you can discover the country’s long history with our favourite brew.

City life in Kerala is colourful and decidedly more laidback than its northern cousins. Don’t miss Kochi, a melting pot of cultures and communities, all living harmoniously in a pretty waterfront setting. Get your camera ready for the iconic Chinese fishing nets. Trivandrum is famous for its well-kept British colonial architecture, thriving arts scene and magnificent temples. Wander through local markets and stop by some of the city’s many art galleries to get a true sense of Trivandrum’s special culture.

Kerala is also blessed with beautiful beaches; think long stretches of golden sands, colourful fishing boats pulled up on shore and palm trees waving in the wind behind.

Last but by no means least the food! Keralan cuisine is distinct from the rest of India. With Greek, Chinese, Portuguese, Arab and Dutch influences, the food is a unique and delicious blend of cultures from all over the world. The seafood here is absolutely divine.
