Private Rail Station

Private Rail Station

You'll encounter your first Rovos Rail highlight before you even get on the train! The private station at Capital Park, Pretoria was once a bustling hub of steam locomotion and is now the headquarters for Rovos Rail.

The gracious railway station serves as the departure or arrival point for most of the train journeys. The property boasts an ever-expanding railway museum – showing a historical collection of train paraphernalia. It's well worth arriving early to make the most of this fascinating building.
Observation Car

Observation Car

The resplendent Observation Car is a welcoming haven after a day of exploring. With its open-air balcony and big picture windows, it's the perfect spot to watch the stunning landscapes pass by in the company of your travel companions. On most days, afternoon tea is served in the Observation Car while bar service is available in the evening. 

As this car is located at the rear of the train, there is an observation section from which guests can fully immerse themselves in their surroundings. 
Dining Car

Dining Car

One of the most exciting things about an old-world style rail journey like this has to be eating incredible food in an exquisite setting. Indulge in expertly prepared, mouth-watering cuisine in the pre-1940s setting of the dining car. You will be served breakfast, lunch and a four-course dinner whilst aboard - complemented by fine South African wines.  Meals are served in one sitting only - so there's no rush to finish, you're at leisure to take as much time as you would like.
Lounge Car

Lounge Car

With its big picture windows, sofas and wingbacks, the Lounge Car has both areas perfect for socliasing and  quiet corners to while away the days. On most days, afternoon tea is served at in the Lounge Car while bar service is available in the evening. There may even be a historian aboard your train, who will host fascinating lectures on the history of this incredible region in the Lounge Car. 

Rovos Rail Suites

The suites aboard the train effortlessly combine vintage elegance with modern luxury. Each of the room types has been refurbished to a supremely high standard - all with en-suites with showers, tea facilities and other amenities.

Royal Suite

The Royal Suites each take up half a carriage with their own private lounge area and en-suite bathroom with Victorian bath, separate shower, toilet and basin. They accommodate one or two passengers in double or twin beds. A dedicated host is available at all times and services the suites daily. A bar fridge is filled with the on-board beverages of the passengers’ choice.

Deluxe Suite

The Deluxe Suites accommodate one or two passengers in double or twin beds and have their own lounge area and en-suite bathroom with shower, toilet and basin. A dedicated host is available at all times and services the suites daily. A bar fridge is filled with the on-board beverages of the passengers’ choice.
