We had a great holiday which more than lived up to our expectations. All the guides were excellent and very knowledgeable. In particularly our national guide Linda who fully supported the whole group.

The holiday was well organised and our tour guild was very informative with good English and would always go that extra mile to help you. For myself it was too full on, we had very little free time in must of the places we stayed at apart from Shangai.

First rate holiday superbly organized with many interesting and fascinating locations and activities. Everything exceeded expectations . Hotels and food was first class.

Absolutely fantastic from start to finish. Our guide Amanda was outstanding. All the accommodation was good and the food fine. Nothing negative to say, though perhaps grading could be moved upwards from moderate as the pace was quite quick at times.

Just got back from an amazing tour of China . We booked China Delights and were so lucky to have David as our guide . From the moment we met him at the hotel until the day we left he was absolutely wonderful . He went above and beyond to make sure our trip was the holiday of a lifetime . We saw so much of China and covered such vast ground. His English was impeccable. Our hotels were lovely , everything we saw was breathtaking. Each day just kept getting better and better. Thank you Wendy Wu for making my dream of seeing China come true and thank you David for being such a wonderful and caring guide and sharing your beautiful country with us .

Great guide David, caring, conscientious & kind, nothing was too much trouble for him.

Would have preferred to visit Shanghai's colonial era streets than cross the river to the newly developed area.

Boat tour in Wuzhen would have been more interesting than in Suzhou

I'd have been happier had our tour ended in Xian

1 Beijing first day, thousands queueing in 35°C heat to enter Tiananmen Square, a horror show ! two separate securety passport checks then a further face scan before we could enter. Could hardly see the square for people, who went on mass to the Forbidden City where the crush was even worse - an exhausting, utter waste of time. We'd have been better off looking at a move tracing the history with aerial photos etc in air conditioned comfort. A tour of the cities shopping or embassy area would
have been more interresting & enjoyable

2 Hotels in new high tech areas Chengdu & Beijing, remote from
city centres. Dull surroundings, not that we had much time to explore

3 Dinner at "Irish Pub" in Guilin. Very poor quality food compared with excellent Chinese cuisine throughout. To be avoided.

4 Waterfall Hotel in Guilin - only two functioning lifts for 33 stories. Very stressfull mornings not knowing when a lift would arrive & when one did
if there would be room to get into it. Otherwise a fine hotel, well located.

Well organised from start to finish with good knowledgable English speaking national and local destination guides. They were responsible for assisting the group in all manner of travel and personal issues.
The itinerary was comprehensive and involved travel by coach, boats, airplanes and high speed bullet trains. We were warned prior to going of the difficulty of any terrain, length of walking and alternative options if one was not up to the task that day.
The food usually started with a comprehensive buffet breakfast, followed by many courses of Chinese food for lunch and sumptuous dinners every day. The hotels were mostly four star rated and one or two much better.
Much display of high technology around. Payment apps etc were superb, cash and credit cards acceptable and locals ready to assist when needed.
It is amazing to see the thousands of locals including tourists all mingling together with no pushing or shouting. The same applied to road traffic and travel. Everywhere we went was kept clean and spotless and this is on the roads and trains too. There was no rubbish or plastic lying around anywhere. There were beautiful parks and open spaces for residents to enjoy activities or walk around. All beautifully laid out and maintained to a very high standard.
However you need your passport all the time for entry to venues, hotels, trains and a mobile phone that can work in China with adequate data. If you purchase data from abroad before entering China you can still use WhatsApp. Also get the Ali Pay app with a foreign bank visa/master card pre-registered, then shopping and paying for purchases is easy.
However because of thousands of high surveillance facial recognition cameras all around and law enforcement officers it seemed very safe to wander around the towns and places we stayed. The whole experience is welcoming, eye-opening, super efficient and a wish by the organisers to let you enjoy and have a memorable trip of China.
We had heard of Wendy Wu tours from friends that highly rated them, and have not been disappointed with our decision to book with Wendy Wu. We will certainly consider going with them again on their other tours.

This tour from Wendy Wu is the most involved holiday I have ever been on. There was something to do every day (some of them were optional, paid for during the tour, but not to be missed). Really came away very happy with the tour. The tour manager George Pu was amazing, always around ready to sort anything out.and more than willing to sort any problem out, no-matter how big or little, by far the best tour manager I have ever come across. I cane away with a very different picture of China than the one I entered China with, quite an eye opener. I can thoroughly recommend this tour, especially if you get the same manager we had. We saw the Pandas, the Terracotta Army, Jade Carvers, silk factory and lots of cultural and acrobatic shows, Eating was a whole new experience - very Chinese, and often spicy hot with limited access to Western Cuisine, so you might want to practice your chopsticks before you go. The Chinese do not have our awareness of allergies so you might have to be vigilant if you have food allergies or intolerances. Also, set up Alipay or WeChat on your mobiles because everyone pays that way, and further, a data SIM or eSIM is essential to make that work.

Well done for the sights and sounds but not so for “optional” tours taking place during the days’s group activities, such as in Shanghai gong up to the viewing platform of the skyscraper , or the MagLev train. Those opting out were left to twiddle their thumbs pending the return of those opting in. Other gripes were about theatre shows where a minimum number had to agree to go or none at all.
