China is on track to administer an astonishing 1bn vaccine doses by the end of this week, after bolstering production and distribution networks in an ambitious drive to vaccinate 40% of the population by this month.

Encouraging people to take the free and voluntary doses with cash incentives and gifts, China’s daily rate of injections has increased to about 20m a day.

China has had great success battling the Covid with just 24 new cases reported yesterday giving us great optimism that borders will soon be open and we can start exploring our favourite destination once again.

The first group of foreign tourists in more than a year touched down in Israel on Thursday 27 May after the government began opening its borders following a hugely successful vaccination programme.

Small groups of vaccinated foreign tourists — up to 30 people — have been allowed to enter as of last Sunday and the Tourism Ministry expects to welcome more groups from the United States, Britain and Germany in the coming weeks.
