Hot Springs

Chongqing’s hot springs have a history traceable back to ancient times; more recently it has earned itself the title ‘China’s Hot Spring Capital’. The area on which the city is built is on is rich in geothermal activity, heating water underground before it bubbles up through limestone caves and mountains ready for locals and visitors alike to bathe to their hearts content.

With so many hot springs, there are a number of hot spring resorts around the city, some giving a relaxed soaking experience, others offering spa and aroma therapy options while more are leisure complexes with water parks and other amenities and family-friendly facilities.  

With both indoor and outdoor pools, Chongqing’s hot spring can be enjoyed all year round. The waters here are mineral rich and said to help improve sleep, reduce stress and enhance circulation among many other health benefits.
