I returned from the Japan Uncovered trip on 15th November 2023. Once again I must compliment WendyWu on putting together the most wonderful package. I enjoyed every minute of my tour. The sites that we visited were awe inspiring. Our National Guide Shioji Todokoro was a truly lovely person. She was friendly and knowledgeable and helped to make the trip in so many ways. She gave the utmost attention of everyone and everything. I cannot praise her enough.
I made some great new friends on this trip which enhanced the experience. The whole group gelled well with Australians and New Zealanders and a few British. The hotels that we stayed in were excellent as was the transport used. The coaches were spotlessly clean every day and the drivers were well dressed, very polite, helpful, respectful and the standard of their driving was very good indeed.
I found Japan to be a parallel world to our own. The Japanese people are so welcoming, kind, caring, and respectful of everyone and everything around them. They have much to be proud of in the way they lead their lives. The Western world could learn so much from them. They are disciplined and the crime rate is low. There is no pushing or shoving, no “me first” attitude. Our experience navigating our way over the Shubuya crossing in Tokyo is testament to the Japanese mentality in that no one collides and it runs like clockwork even though there can be up to 3000 people on that crossing at one change of the traffic lights. The standard of driving in Japan is extremely good. There seem to be no “Speedy Gonzales” tearing in and out of traffic, although heavy traffic really does not exist as it does in the UK with gridlock everywhere. The pavements and roads are clean and there is no graffiti. The toilet facilities were a great source of amusement to the group as each one visited was of the highest class and spotlessly clean. The cubicles and wash room facilities are spotless and modern. We marvelled at how many gadgets there were in the cubicles plus of course music if required.
The sites we visited were amazing and most enjoyable to see. The Autumn colours were fantastic, possibly better than the Cherry Blossom season. We had very good weather throughout our journey although the day we were to see Mount Fuji, it was cloudy with drizzle and a bit chilly but we were rewarded on the last day with a view of Fuji from the hotel window. The morning that we departed, the view of Fuji was fantastic. There she was with her snowy cloak.
Thank you again to everyone at WendyWu who work so hard to put together the most amazing experiences. I look forward to my next one with you in March to Sri Lanka.
