Book your tour to Kanazawa with Wendy Wu Tours
Japan opened its borders on 10 June exclusively for travellers on fully inclusive tours. With travel paused for over two years, Japan's stunning nature and spectacular attractions have had a chance to rest and rejuvenate and are now ready to welcome visitors back at their very best. As is that famous Japanese hospitality - warmer, more welcoming and authentic than ever before.
Kanazawa has a long history of cultural achievements and rivals other more well-known cities such as Kyoto and Tokyo. During the Edo Period Kanazawa was home to one of the more powerful feudal clans and hence gained great advantage in that period of great economic growth. To this day remnants of the elite lifestyles of the noble samurai class and the emergence of popular culture can be seen here.
Kanazawa is currently the capital of the Ishikawa Prefecture located on the Island of Honshu and nicknamed “little Kyoto”. Thanks to its easy access via Shinkansen – bullet train, It is a great place to see some of the well preserved Samurai and geisha districts, as well as its stunning Kenrokuen Garden. Its compact size compared to its larger counterparts makes it a great destination for a stroll around the historical sites and there is no shortage of temples and shrines that also marvel the first time visitor to Japan.
