The capital city of Taiwan, Taipei, is a modern metropolis with a centre packed full of glistening skyscrapers and a multitude of eateries, for which this city has become famous.

The plethora of eateries are endless and range from stir-fried snacks from street stalls in the bustling night markets to Michelin starred restaurants in the up market hotels. Whilst here, you must try steamed dumplings - sticky rice sausage fresh from the grill, oyster omelettes, beef noodles or a whole range of vegetarian stir-fries and tofu dishes.

With Chinese, Japanese and Western influences in its food, culture, folk arts and architecture, Taipei is thriving on its eclectic cultural mix. Whilst in Taipei don't miss the Minnan-style temples which are beautifully decorated, the heritage lanes which are home to gourmet cafes, or the nightlife scene, growing in reputation yearly.
