India holidays immerse you in a depth of experience like no other, with the diversity, cultural riches and variety of landscapes of an entire continent!
Between the towering Himalayas and Kerala’s beach fringed tip, there’s millennias worth of history to discover on a holiday in India. Civilisations rose in the Indus valley over 5,000 years ago and the great empires that have risen and fallen in that time have left impressive reminders of their wake. Vast hilltop forts, opulent places and temples as old as time itself greet you at almost every turn and whether you are gazing in awe at the Taj Mahal or bathing with the faithful on the ghats of Varanasi you’ll feel the shadow of history with you at every moment.
The north of the country is the India of many people’s dreams, a colourful kaleidoscope of temples, palaces, spectacular scenery and wonderful wildlife. Search for tigers in Ranthambore National Park, be starstruck by the romance of the Taj Mahal or explore the fascinating remnants of past empires from the Moghuls to the British Raj.
For a more relaxed pace turn your eyes to the sultry south. Cruise on the tranquil backwaters of Kerala, breathe in the fresh cool air of the hill stations of the Western Ghats, explore little visited national parks and relax on golden beaches.
India is a kaleidoscope of cultures and the food perfectly reflects this. Each region boasts its own delicious speciality so prepare to take your tastebuds on a deeply satisfying tour. Northern India is the home of the classic curry, chilly nights in the Himalayas can be warmed with momos, a variation on the traditional dim sum eaten with a fiery red chutney, whilst Punjab is famous for its cooling Lassis, a yoghurt-based drink, featuring spices and fruit. Whether you are sampling incredible street food in Mumbai, the freshest of grilled fish in Kerala or mouth-watering dosa in Tamil Nadu your stomach will thank you for taking it on a holiday to India.
So, sip on chai, devour plenty of curries and submerge yourself in the sense assaulting, life-affirming land that is India!
India offers a wealth of wonderful sights and experiences. What better way to explore them than on a Wendy Wu tour?

I love to share my passion for my country and culture with visitors and try to make sure that each guest is fully immersed in India’s cultural richness. I love the Taj Mahal and the story behind it, and also wandering down the lanes of Varanasi’s ghats – it is here that you find the true India.
Mr Jain was so knowledgeable, we learnt so much from him about India’s history, and felt much more in touch with the culture because of it.Mr and Mrs Jones
The diversity of India is the reason I love my job. Each part is full of different history, culture, customs and religions. I particularly love the incredible history of Rajasthan and my own city, Jaipur – my favourite monument is the Amber Fort, and I hope my guests are as impressed with it as I am.
We were guided through Rajasthan expertly by Jasvir, who looked after us wonderfully. He was so animated, especially about Jaipur, his home city and filled us with fascinating information!Mr Richard
Southern India is a land of beautiful temples and wonderful nature, it is my favourite part of India. I enjoy sharing its wonders with my groups – be it trekking or boating in a forest reserve, visiting spice gardens, Ayurvedic massage or simply shopping for spices in a bustling market. There is no better place to explore in India, and no better person to show you!
Exploring Kerala with Vishal was a magical experience. His passion for the area was infectious and we loved every minute of our time there.Paul and Sara
I love to share the history of Rajasthan with my guests. I feel nothing but excitement while explaining the history and culture of my country because India is the only country with such a diverse number of customs, cultures and religions.
Raj was calm, collected and coordinated – the tour ran like clockwork. We really enjoyed Raj’s commentary and felt so well looked afterMs Briggs
Awards are all well and good, but it's our customer feedback that means the most to us. We're proud that so many of our customers would be happy to recommend us to their friends and family - that's all the accolade we need.

The best time to visit India is from October to March. Each season offers a different climate depending on where in India you are visiting. During May to September, the weather can be quite hot and humid as well as in monsoon season which is June to September. During the winter months of November to January, the temperatures can drop and the weather can become cooler. Read more about when to visit India

The food offered on all of our India tours is locally sourced cuisine so that you can get a real taste for authentic ingredients and recipes, especially spices! Local delicacies from markets can also be tried as well as street food from places like Delhi. On request, western food is easily available. India is the ultimate foodie country and each city offers its own significant dish and a different range of flavours, textures and ingredients. Vegan and vegetarian dishes are in abundance with a huge choice for other dietary requirements as well.

India is now an extremely diverse place and most types of clothing are not restricted, however, women are expected to cover up when visiting places of religious significance like temples. Items such as knee length skirts and shorts are suitable for women (and shorts for men) and these types of clothes are widely accepted. It is always recommended to carry a light cardigan/shawl/pashmina when travelling as well as shoes that are easy to take on and off such as flip flops to be prepared to enter a religious building (some sites will require you to enter bare foot).

The local currency is Rupees which is a closed currency. It is best to either take Sterling in cash to change once you arrive in India, or to withdraw money from an ATM once you arrive in India (charges may apply). Smaller denominations are recommended for taxis, rickshaws, tipping and comfort breaks etc.

This is highly dependent on where you are travelling to, but distances could vary from 2 – 4 hours. Traffic is extremely busy in a lot of areas of India but on our tours we will always try to travel outside peak times.
